Blind Carbon Copies
Don’t send BCC (blind carbon copies) as your email. It is always addressed to the person you sent it to, and never mentions the one who was listed in the BCC field. Try it yourself so that you can see what happens. Send your email – but place your email address in the BCC field. This way you will receive the email and can see how others would receive it if they were listed in the BCC field.

Windows 98 Fast Shutdown
Microsoft brags that Windows 98 shuts down faster than Windows 95. That’s true – but it does this by closing Windows 98 without shutting down any programs that may be open. If you wish to change this, then go to
START
PROGRAMS
ACCESSORIES
SYSTEM TOOLS
SYSTEM INFORMATION
Then select System Configuration Utility from the Tools menu. Click on the Advanced button, then check Disable Fast Shutdown.
Drag and Drop
When you drag and drop a file from one hard drive to another, copying is the default operation. When you drag and drop between two folders on the same hard drive, moving is the default operation. To avoid remembering this, always drag and drop by clicking and dragging with the right mouse button. When you drag and drop this way, you are always presented with a menu that give you a choice to Copy or Move.
System Properties
A shortcut way to get to the system properties (which is located in the Control Panel) – is to right click on My Computer and choose Properties.
Ditch Office Utilities For Speed
Office Startup and Find Fast boost performance for various Office tasks, but they tend to drag down Windows performance. To remove them, delete both icons from your Start-Up folder. In addition, because Find Fast is a Control Panel applet, your best bet for fully removing it is to insert your Office CD and use Add/Remove Programs to open the Office Setup tool. Find Fast is listed in Office 97 under Office Tools in the Setup program. Uncheck the box beside it, click OK and Continue – Office Setup will take over from there. You might also have to remove the FINDFAST.CPL file from your WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory to permanently delete the tool after rebooting your system.
