This Weeks Program
We will look at some of the
features of Paint Shop Pro like printing multiple pictures on one page.
We should have time to start the meeting with a few questions.
Paint Shop Pro 7
PRINT MULTIPLE PICTURES
This is one of the best
features of this program. It is the easiest method of printing multiple
pictures on a sheet of paper that I have ever seen.
First, open the pictures
that you would like to print on one sheet of paper.
Second, go to FILE PRINT
MULTIPLE IMAGES. This will place all of your pictures as thumbnails on
the left side of the screen and then display a sheet of paper. To place
one of these pictures on the paper, drag the picture to the sheet of paper.
If the picture is too large for the paper, you will be told that it is
and ask if you would like to scale it Choose "YES" and you will
be given corner handles to the picture so that you can easily resize it.
Once you have placed one picture on the paper, then you are ready to drag
another to the paper. Resize them at any time by clicking on it to get
the corner handles for adjusting. If you need to rotate one to help it
fit on the paper, click on it and then use IMAGE ROTATE from the top
menu.
Third, BE SURE TO SETUP
YOUR PRINTER BEFORE CHOOSING PRINT. To setup your printer, from the
FILE menu, choose PAGE SETUP. Then click on the PRINTER button. You must
do this in order to tell your printer what type of paper you are using
to use a high resolution if black is your default ink cartridge, then
you must tell your printer that you want to print in color, etc.
Fourth, when you are ready
to print, click on the PRINT icon or choose PRINT from the FILE menu.
EFFECTS BROWSER
The effects browser gives
you a very good and quick look at what your picture would look like when
you apply one of the effects.
Open your picture. Then
from the EFFECTS menu choose EFFECTS BROWSER. You will see your picture
on the right side and a long list of effects on the left. Click on one
of the effects and you will be given a preview of what your picture will
look like.
RED EYE REDUCTION
This is one of the easiest
to use red eye reduction tools that I have seen. To get to it, from the
EFFECTS menu choose ENHANCE PHOTO then RED EYE REDUCTION. This opens
up a window that will show you the before image on the left and the after
image on the right. To move your picture around to the right area to see
the eye, place your cursor on the right-hand photo and it becomes a hand
so that you can move the photo. In the center are the plus and minus magnifiers.
The method you want is the AUTO HUMAN EYE.
PICTURE FRAME
Open your picture that you
wish to frame. Then from the IMAGE menu choose PICTURE FRAME. You will
be given a large variety of frames to choose from.
Print Icon or File-Print ??
Should I use the Print Icon
that is on the toolbar or should I use the FILE menu and then PRINT? It
is a matter of choice but I always keep to a standard and use the FILE
menu and then PRINT. Why? Because all programs are not written the same
and in some of the programs, the PRINT icon does not allow you to
choose which printer you want to use or allow you to change the properties
so that you only print using your black ink cartridge or allow you
to print only page 1. These choices are ALWAYS allowed when you use the
FILE menu and then PRINT.
The one program that someone
mentioned to me lately and I tried it out is Internet Explorer 5.5.
When you use the PRINT icon, it goes automatically to the printer without
allowing you to intervene.
Volusia County Library
Volusia County Library
http://www.vcpl.lib.fl.us/
Visit the librarys web sites and use their Surfcat (the online database
to the card catalog if you are a member of the library, you can put a
hold on a book that you want to check out). And check out their great list
of search engines.
USB 2.0
USB 2.0 products should be coming
to the stores in the near future. The biggest difference between USB 1.1
and USB 2.0 is the data transfer rate. USB 2.0 can transfer data at a maximum
of 480Mbps, which is many times faster than USB 1.1s 12Mbps. Initially,
though, USB 2.0 will only work with Windows 2000.
USB 1.1 peripherals will
work with USB 2.0 ports and USB 2.0 devices will work with a USB 1.1
port. If a USB 1.1 device or port is involved, then the transfer rate will
be that of the USB 1.1 system.
