Merry Christmas – Happy New Year

This Week’s Meeting

No meeting this week.  Enjoy the holiday with your family.

New Schedule

Starting in February, 2003, we will begin to have our meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.  The group has been meeting for many years now and we feel that it is time for a change.

Also, since Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on a Wednesday, there will be no meetings over the holidays.  The next meeting will be on January 8th, 2003.

Become a Ham (Amateur Radio Operator)

Did you know that you can study for the test to become a Ham (Amateur Radio Operator) – by taking practice tests on the internet.  One good site for this would be

                               http://www.qrz.com

If you scroll down on the lefthand side, you will find Practice Tests – click there.  On the next page, you will be ask to place a checkmark  in front of the test that you would like to take – Technician, General or Extra Class.  The test that you would start at would be Technician.  For the Technician test, there is a total of 350+ questions (all multiple choice) that you will have to study.  The actual test will be some combination of 35 of these questions – of which you must answer 28 correctly.

If you study and take these practice tests and find that you are consistently getting a passing grade, then it is time to find out where you can take your test.  By going back to the QRZ main page, you can find where and when the tests are being given by clicking on Amateur Tests.
